The Loft Youth Club

Corona virus suspension
It is with great sadness that we had to suspend the Loft due to the pandemic and even now as we enter September 2020 and schools are going back, we don't feel able to re-open. The decision is under constant review, but of course the safety of everyone concerned is of paramount importance. We do though, continue to remember all the children in our prayers and wish them well as they return to school, to new classes, new teaches and new schools.

We have a Youth Club, The Loft, that meets at the Chapel in the evening on the 2nd and 4th Thursday in the month during school term times.

It is open from 6.30pm to 7.45pm and is primarily for children from school year 3 ( age 7 ) to school year 7 (aged 12). We use the Chapel premises during the winter and take the opportunity of using the outdoor space in the better weather for football, badminton, swing ball and other outdoor games. Inside activities include table tennis, pool, table football, air hockey, Xbox and Wii gaming and crafting activities as examples. The children have the option to just sit and chat with their friends should they choose. We run a popular tuck shop during the evening. We also have the occasional BBQ or evenings around a camp fire.

There is a small charge each evening of £1.00 per child. This is payable on arrival.

The Club is staffed by Chapel volunteers and we're also very grateful to have some parents who assist with supervision duties. All staff are DBS checked and we adhere to the Baptist Union of Great Britain's child protection policy, 'Safe to grow'.

We have an average of 22 children per session and would love it if your child would like to join us

the queue for the tuck shop

At our last session on March 12th 2020 we had 24 children attend and they have adopted a new strategy to make sure they are at the front of the queue when the tuck shop opens, which is always an eagerly anticipated event. As you see from this picture, rather than stand they organised a line of seating and occupied themselves with 'word search' puzzles, until the appointed time!!!!

If you're interested, just pop along one evening when we're open and have a look around and take the opportunity to speak with our supervising volunteers.
